Ninja Warrior Is Heading to the Olympics in 2028

Ninja athletes are headed to the Olympic stage.

The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will officially include obstacle racing inspired by Ninja Warrior-style competition as part of the Modern Pentathlon. The new obstacle discipline replaces equestrian show jumping, marking a huge moment for the growth of ninja and obstacle sports worldwide.

The format blends elements from Sasuke and American Ninja Warrior, OCR racing formats like Spartan, and the recent evolution of head-to-head speed racing seen across the ninja community. Athletes will be tested on grip strength, agility, speed, coordination, endurance, and the ability to move efficiently through obstacles under pressure, the kinds of movements ninja athletes know well.

For years, ninja athletes, gyms, and coaches have helped grow the sport from backyard rigs and local competitions into a worldwide community. Seeing obstacle racing reach the Olympics is another sign of how far the sport has come, and where it’s headed next.

From grip obstacles and ring systems to warped walls and dynamic movement challenges, ninja training is becoming more mainstream than ever before. Explore our full OCR Essentials collection for obstacle racing gear and training equipment.

The road to 2028 starts now.
